What Inspires You?
Last week I was preparing to write pages for the annual report, and I lacked inspiration. Nothing was flowing from my brain, through my fingertips, and onto the computer screen.
Finally, I thought of a former board member, donor, and dear friend named Sarah, who passed away this year, and I began to smile.
Next, I thought of Rod Stewart’s song Sarah Smile, and I went to my music library, cranked up the volume, began to move, and gained inspiration.
I then remembered that music speaks to my soul, went to my diverse music list, and the words began to flow. Does music speak to your soul and inspire you when you need to perform at work?
What is on your playlist? A tiny bit of the music on my new and old school playlists that inspire me to move and write (even when I don’t want to) includes:
Tevin Campbell- Can We Talk
The Dramatics- Hey You Get Off My Mountain
Bruno Mars- 24K Magic
Tim McGraw- Humble and Kind
Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars- Uptown Funk
Kiera Knightley- Lost Stars
Ella Mai- Boo’d Up
Kane Brown/John Legend- Last Time I Say Sorry
Todd Rungren- Hello It’s Me
Chairman of the Board- Give Me Just a Little More Time
My mix of music probably doesn’t make sense to you, but it sure does to me.
